Jean Silva hasn’t tasted defeat in over 7 years, making his loss to Diego Lopes in the main event of Noche UFC sting even more.
The Fighting Nerds standout was the last member of the team to not lose in the UFC, but that standing is gone following his spinning elbow KO loss. In a new video posted to his socials, a battered Silva sent a message to his fans.
“A cut on my head, a cut here, a cut here in the eye,” he said in Portuguese, examining his wounds with his phone’s camera. “Well, unfortunately, yesterday my emotions were too high. I was doing well in the second half. I’d say I ended up going for it, wanting to fight back.”
“Anyway, I ended up going off the gameplan, I wasn’t connected to my team. So the responsibility for this defeat is entirely mine. I was supposed to leave with 13 seconds left, and we’re out.”
Silva then noted the Fighting Nerds slump that has seen him, Caio Borralho, and Mauricio Ruffy go 0-3.
“You’re right about one thing: we lost three times in a row,” he said. “So we must be making similar mistakes. So, I’m sure Caio, Ruf, and I will hold a meeting to figure this out and improve. Whether you like it or not, I’m sorry, but we will be back.”
