The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday’s card in Texas – and the main event winner double-dipped.
After UFC Fight Night 259, three fighters picked up an extra $50,000 – and in the case of one, $100K – for their performances at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. Check out the winners below.
Performance of the Night: Santiago Luna
Santiago Luna (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) got the arena popping off when he took out Quang Le (9-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) with a rallied knockout to open the main card in his UFC debut.
Performance of the Night, Fight of the Night: Diego Lopes def. Jean Silva
Diego Lopes (27-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC) had a great start to his featherweight main event against Jean Silva (16-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) when he mounted him and rained down plenty of ground-and-pound. But Silva worked his way back into the fight and constantly threatened Lopes with kicks and slick spinning attacks. That led a thrilling nearly 10 minutes in the headliner – right until Lopes threw the same kind of spinning elbow Silva had been trying to land and caught him with it. A few punches later, Silva had the first loss of his UFC run – and another gut punch for the Fighting Nerds.
