Warrington Wolves have signed Liam Byrne from Wigan Warriors on an initial two-year contract, with the club having the option of a third year.
The 26-year-old prop, who came through the Wigan academy and made his debut as a teenager, has played 152 games for the Warriors and helped them to win the quadruple last year.
But the Ireland international will switch to the Halliwell Jones Stadium from 2026 to try to revive the Wolves’ fortunes.
Warrington’s season has fallen away in recent weeks with six losses in seven games ending any hopes of a play-off spot.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Wigan and I’ll always be grateful for everything I’ve experienced here, but I feel this is the right stage of my career to take on a new challenge,” Byrne told Warrington’s club website.
