Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson apologized Wednesday to the now-banned Buffalo Bills fan he shoved in retaliation during a touchdown celebration late in the third quarter of a 41-40, season-opening loss.
“Just chill next time,” Jackson said after Wednesday’s practice, via ESPN. “You can talk trash and stuff but keep your hands to yourself.”

The Bills fan, wearing a red jersey in the front row of Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium, hit both Baltimore wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and Jackson on the helmet while a flock of Ravens celebrated along the stadium’s wall, not far from the end zone where Hopkins made a one-handed touchdown catch on a 29-yard throw from Jackson that extended their lead to 34-19.
Jackson pushed the fan back into the stands with a two-handed shove.
“It just happened,” Jackson said Wednesday, via ESPN. “I got pushed. I’m like, what? I wasn’t even thinking about me being out there on the field. My apologies to him.”

The fan was ejected from the stadium Sunday night and has been “indefinitely banned” from NFL stadiums, including the Bills’, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday.
Notably, the Ravens’ subsequent touchdown was met with additional confrontation. On the other side of stadium in the fourth quarter, someone threw a frozen water bottle that landed near running back Derrick Henry in the end zone after his 46-yard score.
As for Jackson, he said Wednesday that the NFL hasn’t informed him of any potential discipline he’ll face because of his altercation. Jackson had conversations with Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta and head coach John Harbaugh about what transpired, according to ESPN.

“As far as I can tell, we’re at a real good spot with that,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN.
Jackson, a two-time NFL MVP, totaled 279 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns against the Bills, but he was out-dueled by the quarterback who beat him in last year’s MVP race: Josh Allen.
Allen accounted for 424 total yards and four touchdowns while leading the Bills to 16 points in the final four minutes of a come-from-behind victory.
