Joe Rogan thinks Khabib Nurmagomedov lost one fight in his career.
Nurmagomedov (29-0 MMA, 13-0 UFC) retired as an undefeated and undisputed UFC lightweight champion, with his last three wins being finishes against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. However, Rogan is now questioning the outcome of his second UFC appearance, which came in a hard-fought battle against Gleison Tibau. Nurmagomedov was awarded the win by unanimous decision, but Rogan disagrees with the outcome.
“I think that’s the one guy that should have beat him,” Rogan said during the most recent episode of “JRE Fight Companion.” “If you look at the record, Khabib’s got an undefeated record, (but) there’s an asterisk. That asterisk is Gleison Tibau. That was a very f*cking close fight that I thought Khabib lost, but it was early in Khabib’s career. You know, it was before he won the title.”
According to MMA Decisions, five of six media members scored the fight in favor of Tibau, with four giving the Brazilian a 30-27. Since that fight, Nurmagomedov’s career would consist of pure dominance in the octagon, en route to three title defenses as UFC lightweight champion before calling it a career in October 2020.
