UFC legend Nate Diaz gives career update: ‘Nobody to fight’
Nate Diaz speaks to MMA Junkie’s Danny Segura at Dirty Boxing Championship 3 in Miami.
MIAMI – Nate Diaz is hungry to compete, but he’s not seeing the type of opportunities he wants in the boxing or MMA landscape.
Diaz (21-13) hasn’t seen any sort of combat sports action since he defeated Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match in July 2024. Prior to that he lost a boxing match to Jake Paul in August 2023, and before that he had his final UFC bout, a win over Tony Ferguson, in September 2022.
According to Diaz, he is ready and willing to do boxing, MMA or jiu-jitsu, but any opponents that would motivate him are currently not popping up on the radar.
“Nobody is free, so there aren’t nobody to fight,” Diaz told MMA Junkie at Friday’s Dirty Boxing Championship 3 event. “I want to fight three times a year, but everyone is f*cking locked down. It’s just a matter of time. I’m trying to fight ASAP and that’s what’s happening.”
Diaz, 41, said he’s been “chilling and training” in his downtime and will be ready for anything when it “pops up in my grill.” He wants to keep competing in various combat sports “until the end of time,” but is still waiting for a compelling option to come up.
The longtime fan favorite admits one thing does attract him, however, and that’s the UFC’s proposed event at the White House for July 4. Whether the promotion would be willing to sign Diaz back to the roster remains to be seen, but there’s interest on one side.
“100 percent (I want to fight at White House),” Diaz said. “That’s the thing I’m most looking forward to.”
