Wednesday Seacoast Roundup: Dover, Exeter, Spaulding golf tee off on new season

SALEM – The Dover High School golf team opened its season on Wednesday with a three-team match at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands.

Ryan Sawyer shot a 2-over-par 37 as Dover had a team score of 194, seven strokes behind Bishop Guertin. Salem was third with a 214.

Ben Zbikowski (38), Des Fennessy (39), Sam MacGregor (40) and Reid Phillips (40) rounded out Dover’s top five scorers.

GOLF

Exeter second in four-team match

MANCHESTER – Chase Jumper carded a 3-over-par 39 for Exeter in its season-opening four-team match at Manchester Country Club.

Bedford won with a team score of 192, and was followed by Exeter (209), Merrimack (224) and Nashua South (233). Bedford’s Aaryan Narang carded a medalist round of even-par 36.

Exeter’s Owen Matthews shot a 40.

Spaulding second in three-team match

MANCHESTER – Junior Evan Trepanier shot a 38 and sophomore James Mabey had a 39 to lead Spaulding to a second-place season-opening showing at its opener at Derryfield Country Club.

Londonderry won with a team score of 197, while Spaulding (207) and Memorial (237) placed second and third, respecitively.

Garrett Truax and Logan LaCoss both shot a 43 for the Red Raiders, while Carter Marcotte had a 44.
