Donte Johnson opened Dana White’s Contender Series 79 with a fast and furious finish against Darion Abbey.
Johnson (6-0) needed just 64 seconds to run through Abbey (9-5) in the light heavyweight bout at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, impressing UFC CEO Dana White and likely setting himself up for a contract.

Johnson, a 26-year-old who made his MMA debut in August 2024, came out aggressive and said that’s much of what’s to come if he gets a UFC contract.
“I feel blessed,” Johnson said in his post-fight interview with Charly Arnold. “It’s very big. It’s something the world as we keep going, because I’ve got a story to tell. … I’m ready to go next week.”
