2025 Ryder Cup: United States team set, Keegan Bradley will NOT be playing

Captain Keegan Bradley has made his selections. The 2025 United States Ryder Cup team is officially set and he will only be serving as the grou’s leader.

Captain Bradley announced his selections on Wednesday from the PGA Tour’s headquarters in Frisco and officially chose Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns to round out the automatic qualifiers (Scottie Scheffler, J.J Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau). Obviously the most-discussed story leading up to this process was whether or not Keegan would choose himself.

It seems that things boiled down to what Bradley felt was in the best interest of the United States team. Objectively there is no argument against Keegan the player being worthy of a spot on the American side, but that he is captaining the group obviously complicates matters. It would appear that he prioritized organization and cohesion in the name of achieving the group’s ultimate goal in securing the Ryder Cup. It is a selfless move and a clear representation at the type of person/captain Keegan Bradley is.

Outside of that the selections were rather chalk. Thomas is one of the greater and more intense Ryder Cup players of his generation, and Morikawa is one of the most reliable players in golf at large. Griffin, Young and Burns have had really solid seasons and while Cantlay has not won in a few years he provides a very high floor of stability which is a valuable thing in the Ryder Cup.

The United States are looking to win the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2021 at Whistling Straits, the last time the event was held on this side of the pond. They will have to take down a European side led by Luke Donald who oversaw the group’s win in Rome back in 2023. Masters Champion Rory McIlroy is leading the charge on the player side there with cornerstones like Jon Rahm, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood serving as some of their better players. Needless to say the action at Bethpage Black in a few weeks is going to be incredible.
