Bryan Battle gets opponent for first post-UFC assignment

Bryan Battle quickly received a date and location after his UFC release. Now, he knows the face who will stand opposite from him in his Dirty Boxing debut.

Saturday at Dirty Boxing 3, Battle will take on Derik de Freitas in a middleweight bout. The event takes place at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami.

De Freitas, a 3-9 pro MMA fighter, will make his Dirty Boxing debut. Born in Brazil, de Freitas lives and fights mostly in the New England area, though recently competed in Indiana, as well. He has lost seven of his most recent eight MMA bouts by first-round finish.

Battle, a 12-2 pro MMA fighter, unceremoniously exited the UFC days after his Aug. 15 weight miss in Chicago. The bout was expected to be his middleweight debut in the promotion after he missed weight at welterweight in December. Instead, Battle weighed four pounds over. His fight was canceled and he was swiftly released from his contract.
