It has been a stellar summer for players on the Stanford women’s golf team.
Junior Paula Martin Sampedro, ranked second in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, won the Women’s Amateur Championship and the European Ladies Amateur Championship. Sophomore Andrea Revuelta, arguably the Cardinal’s best player in the spring, finished third at the European Ladies Amateur and is third in WAGR.
Two weeks ago, senior Megha Ganne won the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes, moving to fourth in the world.
But now, the spotlight belongs to Meja Ortengren, a sophomore who is ranked eighth in the world. She shot 1-under 70 in the final round of the 2025 Hills Open, claiming her maiden title on the Ladies European Tour in her home country of Sweden.
Ortengren, who had one win and didn’t finish outside of the top 10 as a freshman, finished 6 under at Hills Golf & Sports Club, topping countrywoman Lisa Pettersson and Germany’s Leonie Harm by two shots. She also topped past Annika Award winner and Swede Ingrid Lindblad.
Ortengren, who finished sixth in the European Ladies Amateur Championship, also placed third in the PGA of Sweden Championship this summer, which is an event on the LET Access Series.
Stanford, which hasn’t lost in stroke play dating to spring of the 2023-24 season, opens the season next month in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup at Shoreacres.
