Video: Yaroslav Amosov quickly finishes UFC alum in first fight post-Bellator

Former Bellator welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov is back in the win column.

Amosov (28-1) competed Friday for the first time since he lost his title and subsequently parted ways with the promotion. In the CFFC 140 headliner at 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Amosov submitted UFC alum Curtis Millender (21-11) with an anaconda choke at the 4:18 mark of Round 1.

The bout was a 183-pound catchweight that was initially scheduled to take place for a debuting promotion, Fightality, in Chicago. However, the event was canceled and Amosov vs. Millender shifted under the CFFC banner,

Amosov, 31, was considered one of the best fighters outside the UFC prior to an upset TKO loss to Jason Jackson in November 2023. Following the defeat, Amosov took time off. The break was elongated by the Bellator-PFL merger and eventually his contract expired.

Back in the win column, Amosov only has one promotion in mind: the UFC. He even sported a UFC mouthpiece during his fight Saturday. The Ukraine military member told MMA Junkie he planned to compete once outside the UFC before he tried to enter.

“I want to show this world I’m a good fighter and I will be champion,” Amosov said. “My last fight is my fault. I want to show it’s just a mistake. I show this world this mistake. … I think I can do this. I will do this. Maybe that’s better. I’ve trained with many guys, many years, and I feel I can do this. I’ll take this (UFC) belt.”
