The first round of the Players Championship is officially in the books after five players returned to the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass on Friday to finish after a suspension because of darkness on Thursday.

Max McGreevy was the only one of the five who was on the first page of the leaderboard. He was 5-under and on the 18th tee when play was halted at 7:24 p.m. on Thursday and he bogeyed No. 18 to finish with a 68 and a tie for seventh at 4-under.

His playing partners also made a mess of No. 18. Ryan Gerard returned to birdie the 17th hole on a 10-foot putt to get to 2-under, then gave both shots back with a double bogey at the 18th after driving into the right rough. He finished with a 72. Frankie Capan III bogeyed the 18th to finish with a 3-over 74.

Two players had to finish on the front nine. Kevin Roy and Jackson Suber both parred No. 9 to post 5-over 77s. The third player in the group, Kris Ventura, elected to finish the hole after the darkness delay and had already bogeyed it for a 77.

The second round began as scheduled at 7:40 a.m. Lucas Glover, Camilo Villegas and J.J. Spaun were tied for the lead at 6-under 66 and Rory McIlroy, Billy Horschel and Min Woo Lee were tied for fourth at 5-under.
