On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Quinton Byfield, C/LW/RW, LA vs. WSH (47% rostered)
See, sometimes it’s good to just run with the hot hand. After being featured on Tuesday, Byfield extended his goals streak to four games. The Caps can be very tough to score against but they’re expected to start 1B option Charlie Lindgren, which should make scoring a little easier.
Dylan Cozens, C, OTT vs. BOS (40% rostered)
I had a gut feeling about Cozens and it’s good to see things go my way (for once). He’s been excellent since joining the Sens (or leaving the Sabres?) with three points in three games and providing a ton of value in multi-category leagues. He had one measly hit in his last game but I suspect the physical play will pick up once again against the Bruins. Cozens has plenty of ROS fantasy value.
Ryan Donato, C/LW/RW, CHI at SJ (39% rostered)
I think this will be a chaotic game, but this is where Donato thrives. His eight-game points streak was snapped against the Avs, but he’s got a great chance to get back on track against a bad defensive team. He scored a goal against them earlier this season and overall has scored 27 points in his past 27 games.
Adam Fantilli, C, CBJ vs. VGK (34% rostered)
Another day, another game Fantilli should be picked up for streaming or rostered for the rest of the season. The Jackets offense has gone a little quiet lately but Fantilli continues to produce. He’s up to 27 points in his past 26 games since the beginning of January.
Pavel Dorofeyev, LW/RW, VGK at CBJ (32% rostered)
Dorofeyev was featured in this space last time due to his momentum that’s carried on through the week. He scored a goal and an assist against the Pens and faces another team that tends to allow a lot of goals. Dorofeyev’s high-volume shooting ensures that he’ll have a pretty high floor but note he doesn’t contribute in any other categories other than scoring.
Pavel Zacha, C/LW, BOS at OTT (15% rostered)
Linemate David Pastrnak has feasted on the Sens throughout his career – six points this season, 19 goals and 44 points in 31 career games – so we’re riding on his coattails with Zacha. He’s a better option than Morgan Geekie because Geekie’s more of a finisher, and what we’re looking for instead if seeing Zacha set up Pastrnak for a few goals.
Will Smith, C/RW, SJ vs. CHI (13% rostered)
This matchup will be billed as Macklin Celebrini vs. Connor Bedard, but watch Smith force his way into the conversation. He’s a bona-fide top-line player who has really turned it on in the second half of the season with 20 points in 26 games after scoring just two points in 10 games in December. He’s playing on Celebrini’s wing on a really high-upside offensive line, and their chemistry together has been very good. The biggest key to Smith’s fantasy value is the increased playing time, going from 13 minutes per game at the beginning of the season to 18 minutes in March.
Mackie Samoskevich, RW, FLA at TOR (4% rostered)
Samoskevich’s rookie campaign is finishing on a strong note with four goals in his past seven games. He’s slowly climbed up the depth chart and now plays L2 with Sam Bennett along with a plum assignment on PP1, though he’s not a big producer with the top unit. He’s averaging 16 minutes per game in March after averaging just 12 in the five prior months. This is a chance to get in at the ground level for a promising rookie on a good team even if his role is limited.
