Jarnkrok is projected to play on the fourth line with Steven Lorentz and David Kampf.
Joseph Woll will lead the Toronto Maple Leafs out of the tunnel on Monday night for their first game in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The 26-year-old has won two of his last three games since the 4 Nations Face-Off break. Woll struggled against the Vegas Golden Knights last Wednesday, though, allowing three goals on seven shots before being pulled not even 15 minutes in.
“He’s had a little bit of a break, now, I think, with some practices,” Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said on Monday morning. “Going back home against Florida (on Thursday), Stolly’s (Anthony Stolarz) played there. Just some thought process with that.”
Although holding a winning record since the break, Woll has given up 10 goals and has an .853 save percentage during that stretch. Despite that, the Maple Leafs aren’t veering off their current goaltending plan.
“We’ve been rotating here for a while,” Berube said, “and I don’t really see a reason to change right now.”
Woll holds a 21-12-0 record this season and a .905 save percentage with the Maple Leafs this season.
Calle Jarnkrok has appeared in two of Toronto’s last three games — against the San Jose Sharks and the Vegas Golden Knights — but will return to the lineup on Monday in Utah.
The 33-year-old didn’t register a point in his first two games of the year after coming off an injury and groin and sports hernia surgery. Jarnkrok has averaged 10:41 of ice time since returning to the lineup, playing on Toronto’s fourth line.
“It’s not that he’s an odd man out,” Berube said of why Jarnkrok hasn’t played in every game since his return. “He’s been out a long time with an injury. Gave him a little bit of a reset and he’s going to play tonight.”
Coming out for Jarnkrok is Nick Robertson, who’s been an effective player for the Maple Leafs as of late. The young forward hasn’t registered as many points throughout the last couple of games, but he’s been a more physical, up-in-your-face player for Toronto.
“Nothing that he did wrong. He’s worked hard and has played some good hockey for us,” Berube said of Roberton on Monday. “But as a coach, I gotta make decisions. They’re hard decisions and not easy decisions and it’s just what I went with tonight.”
Jarnkrok is projected to slot in where Robertson was, on the fourth line alongside David Kampf and Steven Lorentz. Puck drop for Toronto’s first game in Utah is scheduled for (a very late) 10 p.m. ET.
