The Abbotsford Canucks added some experience to their roster on Friday, acquiring forward Jujhar Khaira from the Syracuse Crunch in exchange for future considerations. The 30-year-old is from Surrey, B.C. and brings over 300 games of NHL experience to Abbotsford. This season with the Crunch, Kharia has nine points in 18 games and collected his 50th career AHL assist back in February.

As mentioned, Kharia has plenty of experience at the NHL level. He spent time with the Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild before signing with Syracuse in September. As Kharia is currently on an AHL deal, he would need to be signed by the Vancouver Canucks in order to be called up to the NHL.
As for Abbotsford, Khaira should provide some additional depth heading into the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs. The AHL Canucks currently sit sixth in the Pacific Division, with a record of 28-23-2-1. With 18 games remaining, Abbotsford will be looking to not only secure a spot in the postseason but get home ice for at least the first round of the playoffs.
