The Jets‘ roster turnover, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, rolls on, with the team granting wide receiver Allen Lazard permission to seek a trade, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter notes that the Jets are open to bringing Lazard back if they cannot find a trade partner.
After five solid seasons in Green Bay, Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million deal with the Jets in 2023, reuniting him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets also brought in Randall Cobb and eventually traded for Davante Adams, giving Rodgers a handful of familiar weapons to work with, but Jets fans know all too well that the Rodgers era did not go as planned.
With the team already announcing they are moving on from Rodgers, reports also surfaced this week stating that the Jets are expected to release Adams if they can not find a trade partner. SNY’s Connor Hughes noted that he expected the same thing could happen with the 29-year-old Lazard.
Assuming this is the end of the road for Lazard as a Jet, his disappointing tenure in New York would end after just two seasons.
In 2023, Lazard caught just 23 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown, following that up with 37 catches for 530 yards and six touchdowns in 2024, when Rodgers was back on the field.
