The Utah Hockey Club announced that the club extended Olli Määttä to a three-year deal worth $10.5 million.
The 30-year-old from Jyväskylä, Finland was set to become an unrestricted free agent at season’s end, earning a slight pay increase of the $3 million AAV he earned over the past two seasons.
The Pittsburgh Penguins initially drafted Määttä with the 22nd overall pick in the 2012 Draft. He played six seasons with the club, winning the Stanley Cup in 2016 and 2017.
Since being traded from Pittsburgh to the Chicago Blackhawks in June 2019, Määttä has also skated with the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings.
A veteran of 12 NHL seasons, he’s played 742 games and has 42 career goals and 191 points. Meanwhile, Määttä’s career plus/minus rating is plus-82. In addition, he’s a playoff warrior with 85 games on his resume, scoring five goals and 27 points, once again compiling a plus-28 rating.
Määttä recently represented Finland at the 4 Nations Face-off, collecting two assists in three games.
