Last night in the Utah Hockey Club vs. Chicago Blackhawks game, Utah defenseman Mikhail Sergachev threw a very questionable hit on Blackhawks star forward Connor Bedard.
No penalty on this Connor Bedard hit, but Connor Murphy is slapped with a 2-minute roughing penalty.
Murphy was laughing in the penalty box. Imagine he thought that was a soft call. #Blackhawks pic.twitter.com/BdQZJsgGqa

The play happened in the corner of Utah’s end when Sergachev hit Bedard from a questionable angle, sending him face-first into the boards. This caught the ire of Connor Murphy, who came in and pinned Sergachev to the boards in a headlock. When the play was over, only Murphy was given a penalty.
Some on social media speculated that the NHL could issue Sergachev a fine or even a suspension for the hit, despite him not receiving a penalty on the play. However, no announcement came from the league.
This is great news for Utah, as they are only three points away from the final wild-card spot in the West. They will need a full NHL lineup to keep competing and pushing their way into the playoffs down the stretch.
