The 2025 NHL trade deadline is rapidly approaching, and the Buffalo Sabres will certainly be a team to watch. At the time of this writing, they have a 24-27-5 record and are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Due to this, they have been talked about often in the rumor mill for much of this season.
Now, with the trade deadline just over a week away, multiple Sabres have made NHL insider Chris Johnston’s latest trade board for The Athletic: Dylan Cozens, Bowen Byram, and Jordan Greenway.
Cozens secured the No. 6 spot on Johnston’s board, and it is easily understandable. The 6-foot-3 forward has been the subject of trade rumors all season and would be a major addition for any playoff club looking for help down the middle. In 56 games this season, the 24-year-old has 11 goals and 30 points. He is signed until the end of the 2029-30 season, carrying a $7.1 million cap hit.
Like Cozens, Byram has created a lot of chatter as a trade candidate this season. Due to this, the pending restricted free agent is at the No. 7 spot on Johnston’s board. Byram is having a solid season, posting seven goals, 29 points, and a plus-11 rating. With numbers like these, the 23-year-old would be a big pickup for any team needing help on the blueline. He also could be a player used for the Sabres to acquire a much-needed star forward.
As for Greenway, he is at No. 27 on Johnston’s list. Sabres GM Kevyn Adams has confirmed that he wants to keep the pending unrestricted free agent around. However, if they can’t come to terms on an extension by March 7, the 6-foot-6 winger could be a valuable trade chip for Buffalo. Contenders value big physical wingers for the post-season, so Greenway should generate interest. In 22 games this season, he has three goals, eight points, and a plus-1 rating.
