The Edmonton Oilers have recalled forward Matt Savoie from the Bakersfield Condors, it was announced Friday.

Savoie, who was acquired by the Oilers last summer, has spent the entire season to date with the Condors, collecting 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points in 45 games.

Drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft, Savoie made his NHL debut last season with the Sabres but did not register a point. Although he spent the majority of the season in the WHL – with the Moose Jaw Warriors and the Wenatchee Wild – Savoie also saw six games with the Rochester Americans and put up five points.

Over the course of four seasons in the WHL with the Wild, Warriors, and the Winnipeg Ice, Savoie put up an impressive statline of 103 goals and 160 assists for 263 points in 183 career regular season games.

With Savoie getting the recall, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said Savoie will have the opportunity to earn a spot with the team: “We want to give him a little runway, see where he fits in and see if he’s an NHL player that’s ready to help our team.”
