PGA Tour money leaders: Hideki Matsuyama is hunted for the sixth week in a row at Genesis

Who are the PGA Tour’s leading money winners in the field for this week’s Genesis Invitational?

The short answer is all of the top 30 save for two: No. 18 Jhonattan Vegas and No. 24 Harry Hall.

Everyone else will be at the Torrey Pines Golf Club in La Jolla, Calif., to try and knock Hideki Matsuyama off the No. 1 spot on the money list, where he’s reigned since winning The Sentry, the opening event of the 2025 PGA Tour season.

Hideki Matsuyama of Japan has led the PGA Tour money list every week since winning the opening event of the season at The Sentry.

Hideki Matsuyama of Japan has led the PGA Tour money list every week since winning the opening event of the season at The Sentry.

But for the first time since Matsuyama won that Signature Event and the $3.6 million first-place check that went with it, anyone in the 72-player field this week can rise to the top and knock Matsuyama down, since the winner will get $4 million. There is a 36-hole cut to the low-50 players and ties, plus anyone else within 10 shots of the lead.

That means if Matsuyama misses the cut and Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption Danny List of Australia wins (he has yet to earn a dollar on the PGA Tour), List is the new No. 1.

Players such as No. 2 Rory McIlroy ($302,552 behind Matsuyama), No. 3 Sepp Straka ($389,981 behind) and No. 4 Thomas Detry ($1,300,667) have much better shots.

Either way, the players who make the cut are in for a nice payday on Sunday.
