United Golfers Association celebrates 100 years of legacy

Coca-Cola Beverages Florida presents the United Golfers Association (UGA) invitational that will showcase rising golf stars and provide them with life-changing opportunities, including player development grants for the winners in the junior divisions.

Over the weekend, two exciting competitions will take place: the UGA Invitational for junior players and the Legacy Cup for students from primarily historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

In addition to these up-and-coming stars, we will welcome eight of the dozen Black women on the Professional Golf Tour Circuit.

UGA was founded by a group of African American golfers who operated a separate series of professional golf tournaments for Blacks during the era of racial segregation in the United States.

Several kids from the Orlando area are participating in the UGA Invitational Tournament later this week.

The UGA formed a beacon of hope by providing Black golfers with a platform to compete, showcase their skills and challenge the discriminatory practices that barred them from mainstream golf.
