Photos: LPGA fan favorite Lexi Thompson, a former teen prodigy, turns 30

Lexi Thompson is 30. For those who have followed her since she debuted at the U.S. Women’s Open at age 12, it’s somewhat hard to believe. Thompson spent the drive up to Pine Needles in 2007 practicing her autograph. Little did she know that she would grow up to sign more autographs than any of her peers.

An 11-time winner on the LPGA, Thompson opened the 2025 season at the Founders Cup last week with a share of 13th. She told Golfweek that she might play in two more events – the Ford Championship and JM Eagle LA Championship – ahead of the season’s first major in April. As a past champion of the Chevron, Thompson is eligible as long as she likes. She’s also exempt into the KPMG Women’s PGA and will likely get into the U.S. Women’s Open based off her Rolex Ranking of 55th. Thompson said she’d compete in all three majors if qualified.

The newly-engaged Thompson turned professional at age 15 and won her first LPGA title at age 16 as a non-member. She played her first full season on the LPGA in 2012 and, after 13 full seasons, announced last summer that she played to step away from a full-time schedule in 2025.

Semi-retired Lexi Thompson will play at least two LPGA majors, likely more in 2025
