Can the Eagles follow the Chiefs and win back-to-back Super Bowls?
Philadelphia is the early favorite to win Super Bowl LX after its dominating win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night. The Eagles beat the Chiefs 40-22 in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicated thanks to an incredible performance by the Eagles’ defense. That defense — along with an offense that features RB Saquon Barkley — is a big reason why the Eagles are +650 to win next season’s Super Bowl at BetMGM.
If the Eagles can become repeat champions, it will be the first time since the 1970s that the NFL had consecutive teams win back-to-back Super Bowls. The Miami Dolphins won Super Bowls VII and VIII before the Pittsburgh Steelers won Super Bowl IX and Super Bowl X.
The Baltimore Ravens are the No. 2 favorite at +700 ahead of the Buffalo Bills and Chiefs at +750. The Ravens haven’t been to a Super Bowl since they beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. And just like they did in 2024, the Ravens, Bills and Chiefs all play each other again in 2025. Those three games could decide who gets homefield advantage in the playoffs and also go a long way in the MVP race. Remember, Lamar Jackson was named to the All-Pro team at QB while Josh Allen won the MVP award.
Much like they had to four years ago, the Chiefs may need to retool their offensive line to get back to a fourth consecutive Super Bowl. The Chiefs signed guard Joe Thuney after the Buccaneers’ defensive front pressured Patrick Mahomes all night in Super Bowl LV; Thuney had to play left tackle on Sunday night because of the Chiefs’ issues at that position all season. Right guard Trey Smith is also a pending free agent and could get the most guaranteed money ever given to an interior offensive lineman.
The Lions are right behind the three AFC teams at +800. Detroit lost to the Commanders in the divisional round and dealt with myriad defensive injuries all season. While Detroit should be healthier on that side of the ball simply because of the law of averages, the Lions will also enter the season with two new coordinators as offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is the new head coach of the Chicago Bears and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn became the coach of the Jets.
Those five teams are the clear favorites to win the Super Bowl, as there’s a gap to the 49ers at +1400 and the Bengals at +1800. Both San Francisco and Cincinnati had disappointing seasons in 2024 and failed to make the playoffs. They could both also lose a key receiver in the offseason. Cincy’s Tee Higgins is set to be a free agent and the 49ers could trade Deebo Samuel.
