Kraken Upset Leafs as Jared McCann Scores, Joey Daccord Shuts Down Auston Matthews

Thursday night is the ultimate opportunity for NHL fans, with a loaded slate of thrilling matchups that fans eagerly anticipate. The game that sticks out is the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to their third straight when taking on the Seattle Kraken on the road.

For bettors, this matchup provides a chance to capitalize on some of our recent strong trends, like our 32-28 record on our last 60 picks and our 15-8 record on our last 22 moneyline picks.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Seattle Kraken Best Bets:

  • Kraken ML (+140)

  • Under 6.5 goals (-135)

  • Joey Daccord 25+ saves (Odds Not Yet Listed)

  • Jared McCann Over 0.5 points (-105)

  • Jared McCann anytime goal (+300)

This looks like a perfect letdown spot for the Leafs. They’ve won two straight with both wins coming against impressive teams in the Flames and Oilers but will now go against a Kraken team that has won just four of their last 11 home games, including two straight losses.

The Kraken have also beat the Leafs just once out of their seven all-time matchups yet the Leafs are only -165 when I would expect something around -200 or greater.

There’s something to this and it could start with the goalie matchup and Seattle’s Joey Daccord. The former Arizona Sun Devil has been a force since solidifying his NHL status last season with a career 2.67 goals against average. This season, he’s continued to help carry his team to victory with a 18-13-3 record with a 2.49 goals against average despite Seattle being 24th in goals allowed per game.

Daccord is yet to beat the Leafs while being a member of the Kraken but has some solid numbers in this matchup with a 2.73 average and .911 save percentage. He will play a pivotal role in this game as the Buds are running hot with ten goals over their last two road games but prior to that went three straight games with a single goal.

An easy parlay add would be Daccord to record 25 or more saves as the 28-year-old Boston product has gone over this total in ten straight starts.

Seattle will need to generate some offence if they want to win this game and it should start with their leading scorer, Jared McCann. The 28-year-old winger rides a four-game point streak and has nine points in his last eight games plus excels in this matchup versus Toronto with five goals and four assists for nine points in his last ten games versus the Leafs. He hasn’t scored in seven games and should get on the board in this one.
