The Utah Hockey Club has announced that tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets is head coach André Tourigny’s 300th NHL game coached.
This is an incredible accomplishment for a coach who had a bit of trouble getting his foot in the door as a head coach.
He spent time with both the Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators as an assistant coach but was never given the chance to be a head coach.
It wasn’t until he signed with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL in 2017 that he started to gain recognition as a potential NHL coach.
He finally got his opportunity on July 1, 2021, when he was named the head coach of the Arizona Coyotes. Now, he is the bench boss of the Utah Hockey Club.
Congrats, André!
