The Ottawa Senators have recalled forward Cole Reinhardt from the Belleville Senators, it was reported Sunday.
In a corresponding move, the Sens sent goaltender Leevi Merilainen to Belleville.
Reinhardt, a 2020 sixth round pick of the Senators, has seen time with both Ottawa and Belleville in 2024-25, putting up two points in 12 NHL games and 17 points in 16 AHL games.
Across 13 career NHL regular season games, the product of Calgary, Alta., has a goal and an assist.
Merilainen, a 2020 third round pick of the Senators, has also seen time at both levels this season. Appearing in 12 NHL games, Merilainen has posted an impressive .925 SP and 1.99 GAA along with a record of 8-3-1. With Belleville, Merilainen has a record of 7-2-4, a 2.43 GAA and a .901 SP in 13 appearances.
Having made 14 career NHL appearances since joining the Sens organization in 2022-23, Merilainen has a 8-4-2 record, a 2.25 GAA and a .919 SP.
With Reinhardt once again being recalled by Ottawa, he will have another chance to prove he can produce and be an important factor for the Senators. In limited time, Reinhardt has shown to be able to handle anything thrown his way and could find himself looking down a bottom six role next season.
