The NHL is unveiling the first and second quarter-century teams for each franchise that has played since 2000, and the Vegas Golden Knights’ features players that were instrumental to their Stanley Cup win.
Unlike most NHL teams, the Golden Knights have only been a team for eight seasons. They’ve had plenty of success during that time, winning a Stanley Cup, going to the finals twice and making multiple Western Conference Finals trips.
Each team features three forwards, two defensemen and a goaltender.
On the Golden Knights’ first team, the three forwards were Jack Eichel, Mark Stone and William Karlsson. Eichel is the most skilled player to ever play for the Golden Knights, Stone captained the team on their cup run and Karlsson has been instrumental during every step. On the backend, it was Alex Pietrangelo and Shea Theodore. Pietrangelo was the first big free agent signing to come to Vegas and Theodore is the all-time leader in every offensive category among Golden Knights defensemen. Adin Hill was the goaltender named as he started every game during their Stanley Cup win.
The second team features Jonathan Marchessault, Reilly Smith and Chandler Stephenson. Each forward is no longer on the Golden Knights but were key factors in the team’s success throughout their tenures. Alec Martinez and Brayden McNabb were the two defensemen named and both are known for their defensive abilities and veteran leadership. Marc-Andre Fleury was the goaltender named and was the most important factor in the Golden Knights getting off to such a great start.
