Islanders Hudson Fasching Out Of Non-Contact Jersey At Thursday’s Practice

EAST MEADOW, NY — New York Islanders forward Hudson Fasching ditched the non-contact jersey on Thursday.

The 29-year-old has missed the last six games after he sustained an upper-body injury in their 5-4 overtime loss against the Boston Bruins.

In 19 games this season, Fasching has no points with 11 shots while playing on the fourth line when in the lineup.

Rookie Marc Gatcomb has thrived in his first three NHL games, with 19 hits, and, given his work ethic thus far, he might get a longer leash.

Fasching will need to be activated out of injured reserve before being eligible to return to the lineup.

The Islanders do have a roster spot open.

Forward Maxim Tsyplakov has one more game left to serve on his three-game suspension.
