It’s still very early in 2025, but there have been multiple examples of wholesome MMA content turned in this year.
There’s arguably nothing more heartwarming than the collaboration between former UFC middleweight champions and longtime rivals Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker, who surprised the MMA world this week when video and images surfaced of them training together at City Kickboxing in New Zealand.
The pair, who met twice for the 185-pound title in October 2019 and February 2022, with Adesanya winning both, took their newfound friendship a step further by getting together for an in-depth breakdown of Saturday’s UFC 311, which takes place at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+).
From the title fight doubleheader of Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan and Merab Dvalishvili vs. Umar Nurmagomedov, to the middleweight main card opener of Kevin Holland vs. Reinier de Ridder, future UFC Hall of Famers Adesanya and Whittaker offered thoughts and analysis of all the marquee UFC 311 matchups in a lighthearted and hilarious manner.
