Pittsburgh Penguins Assign Goaltender Tristan Jarry To Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that goaltender Tristan Jarry has cleared waivers and will be assigned to their AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Jarry has had a rough season with Pittsburgh posting an 8-8-4 record with a 3.31 GAA and .886 SP. He had a 4-1 record with a 2.16 GAA and .926 SP in a five-game conditioning stint with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton earlier this season.

The 28-year-old is in the second year of a five-year contract that pays him $5.38 million per year. The deal also has a modified no trade clause.

The Surrey, BC., native is a two-time NHL All-Star and boasts a career record of 144-93-29.

In a corresponding move, the Penguins recalled goaltender Joel Blomqvist as the team departs for a seven-game road trip.

Jarry appeared in the AHL All-Star Game and took home the Harry Holmes Memorial Award as AHL’s Best Goaltending Duo in the 2016-16 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton are tied for second in the AHL’s Atlantic Division, Jarry’s first chance to start for the team comes when WBS play a back-to-back against the Utica Comets on Friday and Saturday.
