The Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings will have new looks at Ohio Stadium.

On Thursday, the NHL and Fanatics revealed the uniforms for the Stadium Series matchup between Columbus and Detroit on March 1. The Blue Jackets will play their first NHL outdoor game by renewing the Michigan-Ohio rivalry at the stadium of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

With the Blue Jackets’ first game in the elements comes their first outdoor uniform, and they brought back some familiar elements while using new designs to commemorate the history of the city, state and the Union Army.

Columbus brought back its cannon on the crest, giving it metallic silver and red accents. They also have a chevron sleeve stripe “denoting the rank insignia” of the Union Army era and a new “CBJ” mark on the shoulder with two crossed sticks, “a nod to the unit designation pins worn on the front of soldier’s slouch caps,” the announcement said.

The jersey also has an outline of the state of Ohio on the captain and alternate captain patches, as well as a buckeye leaf pattern on the inside back neck to represent the state tree.

The Red Wings, meanwhile, are slated to play their fifth NHL outdoor game. They’ve got two wins and two overtime losses so far between two Winter Classic games, a Stadium Series matchup in 2016 against the Colorado Avalanche and the Centennial Classic on Jan. 1, 2017, against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Detroit may not be new to outdoor NHL games, but its new Stadium Series uniform also has new elements celebrating the city’s automotive industry and hockey culture. Their front crest features a new “Detroit” script wordmark that’s inspired by automotive insignias, details that look like a car’s upholstered leather interior, speed stripes on the sleeves and a racing stripe and winged wheel on the helmet. On the inside back neck is the iconic “Hockeytown” slogan.

Columbus is currently in the second wild-card spot with 48 points in 44 games, while the Red Wings are two teams behind them with 44 points in 43 games.

The action goes down at 6 p.m. ET on March 1.
