Pair Of Golden Knights Prospects Thriving In The CHL

Prospects Viliam Kmec and Trent Swick are enjoying productive seasons in their respective CHL leagues less than a year removed from joining the Vegas Golden Knights’ organization.

Swick is a towering 6’6 left-handed winger that the Golden Knights used their 180th overall selection in the 2024 NHL draft to select. Playing with the Kitchener Rangers for his fourth season in the OHL, the 20-year-old has scored 17 goals and 36 points in 36 games.

Swick was selected as an over-ager due to the time it took him to get acclimated to his height. Once he discovered how to use it to his advantage, his game has reached new heights. He currently has not signed his entry-level contract but could do so following the season allowing him to play for the Henderson Silver Knights in the AHL or the Tahoe Knight Monsters in the ECHL.

Kmec is just as interesting of a prospect as Swick is. Listed at 6’3, the 21-year-old was never drafted but was invited to the Golden Knights development camp this summer. He was one of the most impressive players during camp and at the Rookie Face-Off earning him an entry-level contract. Like Swick, Kmec is eligible to join the the Golden Knights farm system following this season.

Kmec is playing in his third season in the WHL, dominating the game at both ends of the ice. His nine goals and 38 points in 38 games have him among the league leaders in points by a defenseman.

Trevor Connelly, Lukas Cormier, Mathieu Cataford and recently Tuomas Uronen get most of the headlines when discussing Golden Knights prospects but players such as Swick, Kmec, Carl Lindbom and Arttu Karki have shown they can be potential contributors to the Golden Knights organization.
