The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forward Samuel Helenius from the Ontario Reign, it was announced Wednesday.
Helenius, a product of Dallas, Texas, has split time this season between the NHL and the AHL. In 21 games with the Kings, he has collected two assists while tallying three points in nine games with the Reign.
Drafted by the Kings in the second round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Helenius is in his third full season in North America. Across 151 career AHL regular season games, Helenius has accumulated 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points.
Although he has been in North America full-time since 2022-23, this is Helenius’ first season seeing time in the NHL. The points may not been coming consistently, but Helenius has the size and skills needed to make an impact now and in the future.
