Tiger Woods, Jupiter Links to make debut in TGL against Collin Morikawa and LA Golf Club

Tiger Woods‘ Jupiter Links Golf Club has the longest odds to win the inaugural season of the TGL, the indoor golf league Tiger and Rory McIlroy created.

Tuesday, at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Woods gets his first chance to prove the oddsmakers wrong.

Woods makes his TGL debut 7 p.m. against Los Angeles Golf Club. The match will be on ESPN.

Woods, Kevin Kisner and Max Homa will be in the Jupiter lineup with Tom Kim inactive. LA will play Justin Rose, world No. 4 Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala and sit Tommy Fleetwood for its opener.

Woods co-owns Jupiter with David Blitzer.

“I’m excited. This is a dream come true,” Woods said during the Week 1 broadcast. “I’m also a part of the playing process. I haven’t been a part of the playing process in awhile.”

Woods watched The Bay’s 9-2 victory over New York in TGL’s debut a week ago. The crowd was energized by the uniqueness of the league that infuses high-tech and real time golf, despite a match that never was close.

“This is very different for us.” Woods said. “This is what we’ve been shooting for. We’re trying to bring a new demographic to this game of golf, and it’s going to be exciting.”

Woods played in five PGA Tour events in 2023 and completed one, the Masters, where he placed 60th. He withdrew from Genesis because of illness and missed the cut at the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and British Open.

Woods underwent micro decompression surgery in September and played for the first time since the procedure at the PNC Championship in Orlando last month where he teamed with son, Charlie, a Benjamin School sophomore. Team Woods finished second at the PNC Championship, losing to Boca Raton resident Bernhard Langer and his son, Jason, in a playoff.

Jupiter is a heavy underdog as several sites, including FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars, list Woods’ team as the longest shot to win the six-team league.

“I think we’re going to prove a lot of people wrong,” Kim said last month. “I really like our team, I really like our chances because we have the best player who ever played the game.”
