San Jose Sharks Assign Igor Chernyshov To AHL

The San Jose Sharks have assigned forward Igor Chernyshov to the San Jose Barracuda, it was announced Friday.

Chernyshov, who was drafted by the Sharks in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft, has yet to play a game this season due to offseason shoulder surgery.

A product of Penza, Russia, Chernyshov joins the Barracuda for his first season in North America. In 2023-24, Chernyshov split time between the KHL and the MHL, collecting four points in 34 games with Dynamo Moskva and 28 points in 22 games with MHK Dynamo Moskva.

A smart, cerebral player who makes good decisions with the puck, Chernyshov was one of the better prospects available after the first night of the NHL Draft. As he gets set to make his pro debut in North America, Sharks fans will be paying close attention.
