Jets Hoping To Erase The Memories Of An Overtime Loss

The Winnipeg Jets lost last night’s game 2-1 in overtime to the Los Angeles Kings, but they will need to erase the loss from their memories and prepare for a Central Division showdown against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Jets struggled to create offence against the NHL’s No.1 defensive team, mustering just 19 shots and scoring one goal, which came on the power play. Eric Comrie was once again on the losing side of one of his starts, allowing two goals on 23 shots. The 29-year-old has now lost seven consecutive starts despite posting a .904 SV% and a 2.94 GAA.

HC Scott Arniel mentioned that the plan heading into the weekend was for Comrie to start against the Kings and for Connor Hellebuyck to start against their division rivals. He’ll re-enter the Jets’ goal where he’s expected to battle against MacKenzie Blackwood.

Tonight’s meeting between the Jets and Avalanche is their third of the season, splitting the season series at the moment. The most recent game was on Dec. 31 where the Avalanche were too much for the Jets to handle, beating them 5-2 and throwing 36 shots at Comrie.

With Hellebuyck in net, the expectations change but what remains is the Avalanche’s potent offence.

Puck drop is at 6:00 P.M. CST at the Canadian Life Centre.
