Patrick Kane Wants Jonathan Toews Back On Blackhawks

With the Chicago Blackhawks on the road to play the Detroit Red Wings, there is always going to be some chatter about the rivalry and how long these two have been going head-to-head.

Since November of 2023, however, the chat surrounding this matchup has revolved around Patrick Kane who now plays for the Wings after his legendary tenure with the Hawks.

He is always going to get attention before and after these games which is warranted considering he is one of the greatest to ever put on a Chicago sweater in any sport.

Kane answered a question on Friday before the game at Little Caeser’s Arena that sparked the interest of a lot of people.

The rumors of Jonathan Toews trying to return to the NHL are loud and it makes everyone wonder if he is going to make it back.

Kane, not surprisingly, was asked about this ahead of this game which is the perfect time to bring it up to him. His answer was something else:

“I’d love to see him come back and play for the Blackhawks. That would be amazing. When you look at his career and how storied it is and how much success he had as a Blackhawk, you don’t want to see him wear another jersey. I don’t know if that’s really in the cards. That’s just my thinking.”

That would be entertaining for Blackhawks fans if they had Toews back but it just is not going to happen. They have already replaced him as captain and the ship for his return has sailed.

Other leaders wouldn’t be able to lead the same with Toews in the room at this point. It’s a shame that the organization just let Toews walk like that but it is what it is now.

If Toews returned with another team, it would likely be a playoff team anyway which would be more fun for him than the Blackhawks who enter Friday with the worst record in the NHL.

When Kane was asked about the Chicago Blackhawks organization, he also gave a nice answer that fans will appreciate:

“I’m always watching, always kind of seeing what’s going on there. Probably not paying attention as much as last year but always hoping for the best for the team and the organization. I want to see them win and do well for the city.”

One day, even if not as a player, Kane will be back at the United Center to be celebrated. Despite short stints with other teams from here on out, nothing will ever change his legendary status within the Chicago organization.
