Connor Bedard just keeps getting better now that he has really found his stride in his second season in the NHL. Unfortunately, even though he has a point streak of eight games and has four goals and 11 points in that span, the Chicago Blackhawks have won just twice.
Bedard is really turning into the superstar many believed he could be, even though I wouldn’t say he is there yet considering he is tied for 42nd in the league in points.
That’s completely understandable and a very respectable place to be at just 19 years old. With his eight-game point streak as a teenager, he is quickly climbing the leaderboards for the longest point streak by Canadian teenagers since 1990-91.
Bedard is now tied with Steven Stamkos (2009-10), Sidney Crosby (2006-07), and Rick Nash (2003-04) with points in eight straight games before turning 20 years old.
Next up for Bedard if he gets a point in his next game is Stamkos again (2009-10) and Sam Gagner (2007-08). The Blackhawks face the Detroit Red Wings tonight (Jan. 10) and there’s a pretty good chance he gets on the board against this not so great team.

If Bedard can get to nine games, there are three more point streaks by Canadian born players as teenagers that he would then be looking to tie at 10 games. These players include Jonathan Toews (2007-08) as well as Crosby (2005-06 and 2006-07). Chicago goes up against the Edmonton Oilers the following day (Jan. 11).
The only Canadian teenager to put together a longer point streak is Nathan MacKinnon who went on a 13-game run in 2013-14. For Bedard to reach that, he would have to get a point against both the Red Wings and Oilers, then follow that up with points against the Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators, and Vegas Golden Knights. In terms of difficulty, the goalies he would have to produce against are well above average this season.
To surpass MacKinnon’s record that has stood for 11 years from that timespan on, Bedard would need a point against one final team, the Carolina Hurricanes.
With how the young star is playing for the Blackhawks, it is very possible. He reached eight games already and is very involved while playing a lot of minutes. He improves game after game and is looking like the player Chicago hopes can bring them out of a rebuild sooner than later.
