The Ottawa Senators announced they have recalled defenseman Nikolas Matinpalo from the Belleville Senators.
The 26-year-old has two goals and five assists in 23 games for Belleville this season.
Matinpalo originally signed an entry-level contract with the Senators in May 2023 as a European free agent after five season in Liiga. He signed a one-year, two-way extension with Ottawa this summer.
The Espoo, Fin., native went pointless in four games for the Senators last season.
With David Perron, Artem Zub, and Anton Forsberg all on injured reserve there is a chance Matinpalo plays his first NHL game of the season with five games remaining on the Senators current nine game road trip.
