Things are going spectacularly for the New Jersey Devils as we have reached the holiday break. They are at the top of the Eastern Conference standings and stand out as legitimate contenders. They have also won seven out of their last 10 games, so they are not slowing down.
With the Devils having so much success this season, they will likely aim to add to their roster. Their top wish this year for Christmas should be for them to acquire a skilled middle-six forward before the 2025 NHL trade deadline passes.
When looking at the Devils’ roster, it is clear that they would benefit by adding another impactful forward to their middle six. This is because they could use more secondary scoring and should have plenty of players to consider as we get closer to the deadline.
Some forwards who have been creating chatter as trade candidates include Frank Vatrano (Anaheim Ducks), Trent Frederic (Boston Bruins), Brandon Saad (St. Louis Blues), Jason Zucker (Buffalo Sabres), Gustav Nyquist (Nashville Predators), and Mikael Granlund (San Jose Sharks).
It will be fascinating to see if the Devils add to their forward group before the deadline passes from here.
