After another enthralling round of Premier League action, we have collated our latest round of Power Rankings. However, before we dive in, let’s check out the results from this weekend:
Aston Villa 1-0 Southampton
Brentford 4-2 Newcastle Utd
Crystal Palace 2-2 Manchester City
Manchester Utd 2-3 Nottingham Forest
Fulham 1-1 Arsenal
Ipswich Town 1-2 Bournemouth
Leicester City 2-2 Brighton
Tottenham Hotspur 3-4 Chelsea
West Ham Utd 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Here we go, let’s check out the Sports Alert News Team power rankings for this week:
1) Liverpool – despite the postponement of the Merseyside derby at the weekend, Liverpool still top the Premier league table with a four point lead over surprise title challengers Chelsea with a game in hand to boot. With key players such as Alisson and Diego Jota also returning to full fitness ahead of the busy Christmas period, the Reds will be confident of maintaining their impressive form.
2) Chelsea – what a brilliant comeback from the Blues as they overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 with Cole Palmer again demonstrating his world class credentials. Head Coach Enzo Maresca is adamant that Chelsea are not in the title race, however given their current form they look the most likely challengers to Liverpool’s title charge.
3) Nottingham Forest – they have already beaten top of the table Liverpool at Anfield this season and Forest can now add Manchester Utd at Old Trafford to their list of shock victories. The Tricky Trees are riding high in 5th place so far this season and in Chris Wood they have a striker who just cannot stop scoring. If they can invest in the squad in January, could they maintain an unlikely push for European qualification?
4) Arsenal – the Gunners could only come away from Craven Cottage with a point after a late winner from Bukayo Saka was ruled out by VAR. In what could be perceived as a blow to Arsenals title aspirations, with the players available to head coach Mikel Arteta, they currently look to be the best equipped team to challenge runaway leaders Liverpool.
5) Bournemouth – A stunning late turnaround at Ipswich secured a 2-1 victory for the Cherries to move them up to 8th place in the Premier league table and only three points off the Top 4. With a young, attacking squad, Bournemouth have been a breath of fresh air this season and alongside Brentford, Brighton and Nottingham Forest they are challenging the established elite at the top of the division.
