Match Preview: Chelsea vs Newcastle

The Premier League action continues this afternoon as 7th placed Chelsea host 12th placed Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge (14:00pm GMT Kick-Off).

The Blues will hope to re-discover their early season form after last week’s narrow defeat to Liverpool with a victory that will move them back into the Top 4. If they are to secure victory a lot will depend on the performances of Cole Palmer, with the England international involved in 44 goals in his last 41 league appearances (28 goals and 16 assists). Chelsea will also look towards the goalscoring exploits of the often maligned Nicholas Jackson, who with 9 goals and 4 assists in his last 13 appearances will pose a significant threat.

The Magpies have been hampered by injuries to key players, however their form has not been at a level that Eddie Howe will have expected with only three league wins this campaign. The problem for Newcastle has been scoring goals, with their 8 scored the 4th lowest in the league; the key could be getting Alexander Isak back up to form with supplementary support from their most potent attacking threat in Anthony Gordon.

On the basis Newcastle have only won once in their past 29 visits to Stamford Bridge, we don’t envisage that changing record to be improving anytime soon.

Sports Alert News Prediction: Chelsea 3-1 Newcastle
